Health, Nutrition & Vitamins
Bread is a basic component of Greek nutrition accompanying almost every meal. Moreover, it can be used for making small snacks.
There are many types of bread such as rustic-style, wholemeal, rye, oat bread, white bread, multigrain, bread made from corn (corn-bread), baguette and more.
Bread -white or wholegrain- is a good source of carbohydrates for the body. It also contains adequate amounts of folic acid and niacin (vitamins B). On the other hand, it contains no cholesterol. It is an excellent food for humans but like anything else it should be consumed with moderation.
DIETARY GUIDELINES FOR ADULTS IN GREECE SUGGEST A DAILY CONSUMPTION OF 8 SERVINGS OF GRAIN PER DAY, SUCH AS BREAD, PASTA AND OTHER GRAIN PRODUCTS.
